What is Support Coordination
Support Coordination connects you with the human and material supports you need to make your goals a reality. It strengthens your ability to coordinate and choose your supports so you can participate more fully in the community. Support Coordination is a service which is funded separately to your disability supports within your NDIS Plan.
Do I need a Support Coordinator?
Under the NDIS, you will become responsible for getting started, understanding your NDIS plan and its
budgets, and finding and connecting with supports and services in your community to achieve the goals
in your plan.
For some participants, managing multiple providers and coordinating these supports can sometimes be
a stressful or complex task. If you feel you need additional support in this area then a Support Coordinator may be able to assist you with further Coordination of Supports.
How do I get Support Coordination in my NDIS plan?
If you decide that you require more than just basic Support Connection from your Local Area Coordinator, you will need to discuss this at your NDIS planning meeting with the agency and have this approved as part of your NDIS Plan.
Make sure you explain to your NDIS Planner the reasons why you feel you require the assistance of a Support Coordinator. You will also need to explain the type of assistance you require.
